Hype Studios was launched in 2022 by producer Ilya Stewart as a new chapter for an established media company. Headquartered in Paris and Los Angeles, the independent film studio develops and produces director-driven film and television on a global scale.

Hype has built its reputation by identifying distinctive talent and cultivating long-term relationships with filmmakers around the world. At the heart of the company is a shared passion for great storytelling and artistic integrity, working across borders to bring singular and diverse visions to life.

For over a decade, Hype has developed and produced award-winning work, including a longstanding collaboration with Kirill Serebrennikov on The Student, Leto, Petrov’s Flu, Tchaikovsky’s Wife, Limonov and The Disappearance of Josef Mengele, with the films selected for the Cannes Film Festival and released internationally to critical acclaim.

Other notable productions include Pietro Marcello’s Scarlet, which opened the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at Cannes; Vadim Perelman’s Persian Lessons, which premiered at the Berlinale; Egor Abramenko’s Sputnik, which premiered at Tribeca; Mona Fastvold’s The World to Come, which premiered in Venice; Zach Wigon’s Sanctuary, starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott, which premiered at TIFF; and Małgorzata Szumowska’s The Idiots, starring Aimee Lou Wood and Johnny Flynn, which had its world premiere at Telluride.

Hype continues to collaborate with established filmmakers while championing new talent. Upcoming projects include The Revolution According to Kamo, written by Paweł Pawlikowski and directed by Kornél Mundruczó; Yuval Adler’s Job, starring Marion Cotillard and Walton Goggins; Roxy Sorkin’s much-anticipated feature directorial debut, Hot Year; and The Phantom of the Opera, a contemporary Paris-set limited series developed in collaboration with Pathé.
